KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Prosecutors say that DNA evidence has produced a suspect in the 1989 rape and robbery of a Kansas City woman.
Gregory Allen, 60, has been charged with first-degree assault, two counts of forcible sodomy, forcible rape and robbery in the July, 1989, attack on the 34-year-old Kansas City woman in her home. Allen was taken into custody in Des Moines, WA, and will be returned to Kansas City to face these charges, prosecutors said.
According to court records, the woman reported that a stranger entered her residence in the early morning, struck her in the head with a metal object, raped her, bound her hands and stole money, jewelry and her car. Using DNA technology this past May, DNA taken from the scene of the 1989 crime was matched to Allen.
Prosecutors have recommended a $350,000 cash bond.
