KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A dog rescued from Kansas City’s Elmwood Cemetery in December 2012 now has a new home.
Wayside Waifs announced Friday that Mattie — a Shar Pei mix — underwent medical treatment and spent three months with a foster family who provided the special care, socialization and the positive reinforcement she needed.
After three months, Wayside Waifs said a couple that has experience working with dogs rescued from difficult circumstances adopted Mattie and renamed her Moxie. She is now reportedly “thriving” in her new home and has a new best friend — a German Pointer mix named Frannie, who was rescued from a puppy mill and was cared for by Wayside Waifs over a year ago.
