MOBERLY, Mo. — In Moberly, Missouri friends and neighbors have nothing but heart-warming things to say about Dane Sosniecki.
“Dane is a great kid. He’s a really intelligent young man and you know he probably could’ve done anything, but he chose to give back,” said Gayle Morris, a longtime friend of the Sosniecki Family.
Most recently Sosniecki, a 25-year-old Peace Corps volunteer, had been training to become a high school math teacher in Liberia.
The Moberly High School graduate had hoped his assignment would last two years, but after just six weeks Sosniecki’s volunteer work in Liberia suddenly ended due to worst recorded Ebola outbreak in history.

“He just enjoyed it so much that he wanted to go beyond and go to a different country to help people in need,” said Morris. “He used to be in Ameri-Corps. He traveled a lot and I think with that experience he decided that this was his niche.”
A dedicated Dane even recently wrote on his blog quote:
“I am willing to accept the possibility of contracting Ebola to do what I think is right,” he wrote.
Paul Axton commented in response to the blog.
“I think the fact that he will be willing to do that shows that he’s committed and it’s highly commendable,” said Axton.
Sosniecki is expected to return home to Moberly on Saturday.
