KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Elementary students in the Kansas City Public School District are jumping into the digital age thanks to new laptops.

Carver Dual Language was the first school to receive the computers — something students and parents were excited about.

“They are going to make his brain work faster,” Juan Perez, parent, said.

Perez is excited his son Anthony will have the opportunity to work with his own laptop.

“It will be fun,” he said. “Having a computer is exciting. You can find other things, you can know things that you never knew.”

Anthony was one of the first students in the district to receive the new laptops.

Superintendent Dr. Stephen Green says starting with elementary students is ideal.

“It’s the way in which their generation likes to learn, and so we’re tapping into that and advancing them forward,” he said.

All the laptops were budgeted and paid for by the district and more are expected to arrive.

“We will continue progressively across the district as schools demonstrate they are ready,” Green said.

As for Anthony, he’s excited to begin using his new computer and then teaching his dad what he’s learned.
