KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Police are asking for the public’s help finding two men involved in an armed robbery at Church’s Chicken. This isn’t the first time the restaurant located at Longview Rd. and Blue Ridge has been robbed.
Police want to catch the brazen robbers who went into the restaurant with their guns drawn. They even pistol whipped a clerk during the robbery on Friday, March 2nd. Natoya Jones says she drove by the restaurant right after the robbery happened.
“there were two patty wagons and police cars,” Jones said.
The store’s surveillance camera captured the crime where one man was armed with a shotgun and the other was armed with a pistol. Customers were inside the store during the robbery. The robbers took money from the front register as well as a drive-thru register.
Employees had guns pointed at them including a clerk who was hit in the head with a gun as he frantically gave the robber money from the register.
Police say they believe the gunmen are both black and are in their late teens or early 20’s. One is 5’6 with braided hair and the other is believed to be 6 feet tall. The restaurant was also robbed on December 16. Customers say they can’t imagine what’s going through employees minds when they’re forced to look down the barrel of a gun.
“Probably thinking of his family,” said customer David Cooper. “Probably not seeing them anymore you know getting shot. I’d be scared to death myself. You just have to do what they are saying and just hope they don’t pull the trigger.”
Sam Mulla the owner of the restaurant says his employees were very scared but he’s glad no one was hurt. If you know who is involved in the robbers, please call KCPD or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
