KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Recently, some of the FOX 4 Morning News folks went out to breakfast. As it became time to settle the bill, one of them pulled out a calculator to figure out the tip.
“Tipulator” is the iPhone’s answer to a tip calculator — or even one of those tip cards for your purse or wallet.
The app will automatically figure out the 10% / 15% / 20% for you, but it will also round your tip up (or down) to an even dollar amount. I find that makes balancing the checkbook a lot easier. It also has an option for a “palindrome” amount; this one confused me at first, until I realized that some folks do that so they’re assured that the proper amount is taken out.
“Tipulator” also offers a “split check” option, to divide the check among your fellow diners while still offering the same round up/down options.
No, it won’t do away with your basic math skills. But, it does come in handy for those “just in case” situations. “Tipulator” is available for the iPhone and iPad.
