KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Residents of the city of Higginsville are hoping to win big bucks in a contest sponsored by the magazine “Reader’s Digest.”
The contest is called “We Hear You America 2012”, and editors are asking readers to not only vote for their towns, but talk about why their town could use a $50,000 grand prize.
As of December 21st, 2011, Higginsville had roughly 524,000 votes, and was in second place. The city of Lake City, Iowa, was first with approximately 704,000 votes.
Many voters have given improvements to the Davis Theater as a reason why Higginsville should get the top prize. The theater’s Web site says it needs to convert four theaters to digital projection and sound, otherwise, it will lose access to Hollywood films.
