LOS ANGELES — Hollywood, like politics, can produce some strange bedfellows. But outspoken liberal actor John Cusack playing outspoken conservative radio talker Rush Limbaugh may be taking that old cliche to an all-new level.
According to a report from the Associated Press, Cusack’s production company – New Crime Productions – confirmed that the star is developing a movie on the conservative radio host.
Director Betty Thomas, who is set to helm the film tenatively titled “Rush”, says that the finishing touches are being put on the script which will star the slim, dark-haired 46-year-old Cusack as portly, balding 61-year-old Limbaugh.
Thomas’ previous movie credits include the Howard Stern biopic “Private Parts” and “The Brady Bunch Movie.”
A spokesperson for Limbaugh, a Missouri native who worked for a time as the director of promotions for the Kansas City Royals, did not respond for a request for comment on the report.
Cusack’s roles range from 1980’s teen comedies like “Sixteen Candles” and “Say Anything” to offbeat indie flicks like “Being John Malkovitch.” He attended President Barack Obama’s 2008 inauguration, but has since criticized Obama over his military and civil liberty policies, the AP reports.
