Liam Nesson stays in beast mode. It doesn’t matter if it’s wolves or terrorist or kidnappers. Dude is gonna take you out. And “Taken 2” is like the best Kansas City Strip Steak you’ve ever had. It’s lean, tasty and completely filling. “Taken 2” picks right up where 1 left off and wastes no time getting started. This time the kidnappers who took Liam Neeson daughter want revenge. It plays out like an extreme version of take your daughter to work. Yes, the kid gets in the mix this time around — stunt driving, tossing grenades and skipping across roof tops. It’s all entirely improbable and mostly inspired by the Bourne franchise but watching Liam Nesson do work is a real kick in the head.

There is nothing more pure than the love between a boy and his dog. And there is perhaps no one has playfully inventive and creative as Tim Burton. Inspired by the Frankenstine story Frankenweenie is a delightful stop-motion animated feature in black-and-white and 3D. Talk about cool. Easily the best animated feature so far this year. Frankenweenie is the type of creation that will be around for generations. Simply dazzling.

3. THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

1980s rich kids with problems inspired by mix tapes, drugs and cool rock tracks from the era starring the girl from the Harry Potter movies. Not much of a story as it is a series of events inspired by John Hughes and that revolve around a not so self assured freshman surrounded by other high school kids who talk and love like adults.
