** A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD (R)**
Yippee-ki-yay! Bruce Willis is back as super cop John McClane in the fifth movie in the “Die Hard” franchise. John goes to Russia to help his son, a CIA agent who’s up to his eyeballs in bad guys.
There are lots of cool explosions and endless car crashes, but in every other respect, “A Good Day to Die Hard” is purely routine.
Shawn says, “They keep trying but it’s impossible to recapture the brilliance of ‘Die Hard.’ The father and son angle is corny and Moscow as the back drop is silly as the unbelievable action resembles the ‘Transformers’ more than anything else.”

** IDENTITY THIEF (R)**
Melissa McCarthy plays a con artist who steals the identity of Justin Bateman and goes on a wild spending spree in the broad and raunchy comedy, “Identity Thief.”
Both of these stars are very appealing, but it’s McCarthy’s sharp improvisation skills that save the day. Admittedly, much of movie is more unnerving than funny. But McCarthy, who probably deserves screenwriting credit for all her clever ad-libbing, makes this road comedy bearable.
But Shawn says, “There isn’t a single thing funny in “Identity Thief” one of the worst movies of the year.”

**WARM BODIES (PG-13)**
It’s a zombie Romeo and a human Juliet in “Warm Bodies,” a post-apocalyptic romantic horror comedy. Thankfully, it somehow seems original and clever in spite of being so derivative.
It’s funny and offbeat, and the gore is kept to a minimum to ensure a teen friendly PG-13 rating. It joins “Zombieland” as a welcome, tongue-in-cheek rethinking of the zombie movie formula.
Shawn says, “‘Warm Bodies’ is an unexpectedly funny and moving zombie tale. Fresh because it’s told from the zombie’s point of view. Clever because the writing is witty. Charming because the two leads have a ton of chemistry.” Shawn calls it one of his favorites so far this year.
