New in video stores or ‘on demand’ beginning July 29th:
1. NOAH (PG-13)
Paramount Pictures
RUSS
The latest Hollywood version of the epic story of Noah starring Russell Crowe takes a boatload of liberties with Biblical narrative, but it’s still a wildly imaginative, beautifully produced and thought-provoking movie just the same.
SHAWN
In many ways “Noah’ is an awesome movie. It just depends on what type of movie experience you were expecting. If you dig conventional narratives this ain’t your boat. “Noah” boldy blazes its own trail as director Darren Aronofsky deilivers perhaps the year’s most underrated movie.
RUSS
This ain’t your Sunday School Noah…in fact, it’s sometimes bizarre. It might be better to think of this film as a parable about environmentalism rather than a faithful interpretation of scriptures. As such, it’s an entertaining and intriguing saga.
SHAWN
I love the visionary madness of the movie. It isn’t perfect but it’s definitely high-art and a pretty audacious way to shake up traditional bible story with cinematic verve. Loaded with extras.

2. THE OTHER WOMAN (PG-13)
20th Century Fox
SHAWN
Alright Russ you didn’t screen but let me be the first to tell you that “The Other Woman” is hilarious. It’s actually funnier than “Bridesmaids.” Why? We’ll the tone is so delightfully playful it’s ridiculous. There is nothing funny about a habitual cheater but the fresh perspective provided by Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and newcomer Kate Upton is darn near genius. And Diaz and Mann are hysterical together. You won’t just laugh. You’ll laugh!
