So Russ does “Noah” sink or swim?
RUSS
Well, the latest Hollywood version of the epic story of Noah and the deluge takes a boatload of liberties with Biblical narrative, but it’s a wildly imaginative, beautifully produced and thought-provoking movie just the same. This big screen spectacle is as frustrating as it is fascinating. Some of filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s choices seem downright bizarre. This ain’t your Sunday School Noah. It might be better to think of this film as a parable about environmentalism rather than a faithful interpretation of scriptures. As such, it’s an entertaining and intriguing saga.

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns in what is undoubtedly his darkest, grittiest and most violent action thriller, “Sabotage.” Director David Ayer ratchets up the blood and guts in an attempt at realism in this tale of a rogue DEA task force. Oddly, the movie seems artificial just the same.
SHAWN
It really does. And forced. Why? Arnold just seems desperate. A bit stale and awkwardly out of place.
RUSS
Bleak, lurid and profane, “Sabotage” is a distressingly dark action film.
SHAWN
Yes, “Sabotage” is overly dark and violent for no reason. It’s an example of someone way past their prime trying to hold on to their former glory.
