KANSAS CITY, Mo —

**RED 2 (PG-13)**

RUSS
It’s reassuring to know that people of a certain age can still kick some backside.
SHAWN
Yes, my favorite AOAs (active older adults) are back in “Red 2” an adequate but not great sequel to “Red.”
RUSS
Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren return as aging CIA black ops agents labeled “Retired and Extremely Dangerous.” They’re joined by Anthony Hopkins in an effort to find a missing nuclear device. It’s all good, action-packed fun.
SHAWN
Not as clever or interesting as the first but just as entertaining. It’s AARP and Gen Y approved.

**TURBO (PG)**

RUSS

“Turbo” is a beautifully rendered and entertaining computer animated movie about a snail who dreams of competing in the Indie 500.

SHAWN

“Turbo” is slick looking but slow moving until it finally kicks into gear. Crazy premise. Fun movie.

RUSS

It’s predictable, but a strong voice cast and clever moments help “Turbo” make it to the finish line.

SHAWN

Terrific storytelling and diverse casting make “Turbo” a treat to watch. Perfect for all ages including adults.

**THE CONJURING (R)**

RUSS

“The Conjuring” is a supernatural thriller from “Saw” director James Wan that claims to be based on true story of demonic possession.

SHAWN

True or not it’s very scary and extremely intense.

RUSS

While reminiscent of every horror movie you’ve seen since “The Exorcist,” it’s a skillfully made and well-acted creepfest.

SHAWN

That’s not true. “The Conjuring” is a radical departure from the recent slew of “Paranormal” and “Saw” type horror flicks and a return to 70s style horror. The golden age of scary movies. And “The Conjuring” isn’t for the faint at heart.

**THE WAY, WAY BACK (PG-13)**

RUSS

The Oscar-winning screenwriters of “The Descendants” offer up an appealing coming of age flick called “The Way, Way Back.” It doesn’t break any new ground, but “The Way, Way Back” goes down like a cool lemonade on a hot summer day.

SHAWN

Not another mopey movie about a mopey kid struggling with self, friends and family. Way, way boring.

**A HIJACKING (R)**

RUSS

Somali pirates take over a Danish cargo ship in the taut new drama, “A Hijacking.” The tension mounts as negotiations go on between the ships owners in Copenhagen and the pirates demanding a ransom. Smartly directed by Tobias Lindholm, it’s a gritty, realistic and low-key thriller.
