Novelist Nicholas Sparks has proven that he has the magic touch when it comes to bringing romance to the big screen. And his latest is his best yet. Now the synopsis of “The Longest Ride” may sound a bit strange at first — a contemporary love story set in the world of bull riding and a back story steeped in the world of art appreciation — but it works, almost to perfection. Actually Sparks tops his best effort “The Notebook” mostly because “The Longest Ride’s” back story is told and done at a near Oscar- caliber level. Yes, there are actually times you almost forget you are watching a Nicholas Sparks adaptation. The contemporary love story ain’t half-bad either. Scott Eastwood a.k.a Clint’s son isn’t the best actor, but he has charisma and Britt Robertson is just charming enough to cause hearts to flutter. Overall, “The Longest Ride” is the best Nicholas Sparks adaptation to date. Sorry “Notebook” fans, but this is a really comprehensive piece of work.
