INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Family and friends of 49-year old David Demeree are concerned for his safety because they say he has been missing for 10 days.
Vern Davidson says Demeree was supposed to meet with a man he met online who was interested in buying his motorcycle.
“The plan was Dave was going to meet with an individual that was going to follow Dave to my home in his own vehicle pulling a motorcycle trailer,” said Davidson.
Davidson says Demeree never made to his home in Jackson, Missouri on June 13.
Davidson says it’s unlike Demeree to not answer his phone or tell someone if he was going away.
“If he’s going somewhere or leaving he always touches base with me, his family or another friend or two,” said Davidson.
Mail at Demeree’s Independence home has piled up in his mailbox.
The manager of the apartment complex says she did a welfare check on Demeree and went inside his apartment, but Demeree wasn’t there and his apartment looked fine.
“We’re hoping the news reports will get this person’s attention and he’ll come forward because we feel he has critical information that could fill in some gaps as to Dave’s whereabouts,” said Davidson.
Demeree’s loved ones hope police can locate the person he met online by reviewing his cellphone records.
