LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — Family members of a young woman found murdered Sunday morning in a field in rural Leavenworth County are dealing with shock and grief at the sudden loss of Karissa Warren. The 22-year-old Kansas City, Kan., resident had just spent time with them on Saturday. They played cards before she headed out. That was the last time they saw her.
“She came in the house, told everybody ‘Hi’, gave everybody a hug, told them she loved them, and that was last time I saw her,” her cousin said.
On Sunday morning at about 8:30 a.m., her body was found in the field near the Leavenworth/Wyandotte county line. They are puzzled that she was found in Leavenworth County, as they all live in Wyandotte County.
“We just want to know who did it. She didn’t deserve to go out like that,” said Brittany Robinson, Warren’s cousin.
They say she was a free spirit who loved fashion, shopping, and spending time with her cousins.
Karissa Warren was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve top, a red vest and brown boots.
Anyone with information about her death is urged to contact the office at (913) 682-25724 or leave a tip at its website.
“Come forward and say what you know. Just say what you know,” her family urges.
