NEAR OTTAWA, Kan. —  It’s been just over a month since three bodies were found on an Ottawa, Kansas farm.  The body of baby Lana Bailey was found nearby.  Her family is talking about what they’ve learned about her death.

Bailey was just 18-months-old.  Ask anyone who know the little girl and they would talk about how loving and sweet she was.  Now they talk about the pain of losing her and the fact there are still do many unanswered questions about the case.

May 6, 2012 — On an Ottawa farm, police found the bodies of Kaylie Bailey, Andrew Stout and Steven White. For days after the discovery, the focus for family and law enforcment authorities was on the whereabouts of baby Lana.

“She was an awesome baby. Just awesome,” Rachel Helms-Bailey, Lana’s grandmother told FOX 4 News.

On Saturday, Helms-Bailey spoke to FOX 4 about what she said the authorities told her about the case.  She said police in Franklin County told her Kyle Flack, the man now charged with four murders, tossed Lana out of a car in neighboring Osage County.

“I want to know if he is the one that killed my grandchild,” Helms-Bailey said.

She said that law enforcement officials are still being tight lipped about most of the investigation.  But she has her own ideas about what took place.

“I honestly believe in my heart that Kaylie pulled up at the wrong place at the wrong time,” Helms-Bailey told FOX 4 News.

“Once they got Kaylie and beat her, raped her and shot her, they took off in her car not knowing the baby was even in there.  They got down the road a little ways and she is probably crying and screaming for her mom and they threw her out of the car,” she continued.

Family members say this last month has been hard.  They are still wondering why little Lana also had to be a victim.

“I wake up wondering if I’m going to see her today and then I see her memorial on the wall and just shake my head and walk off,” Helms-Bailey said.

FOX 4 News tried to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday to find out more about the investigation.  They did not return our telephone calls.

The family said they are still very upset there was no Amber Alert issued in the case.

Flack, the alleged killer of the four, is being held in a Franklin County jail on a $10 million bond.  His next court appearance is set for July 8.
