LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Police have identified the man killed in a hit-and-run accident that occurred Thursday night on Highway 50.
Police said Edward Moody, 34, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., was struck and killed when he tried to cross the highway from north to south at about 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Witnesses on scene said the vehicle that hit him was “boxy.” Police said an examination of debris from the scene indicated the suspect vehicle is an Oldsmobile Cutlass, Oldsmobile Achieva or Chevrolet Malibu that likely has heavy front-end damage.
The accident shut down the eastbound lanes of 50 Highway at its intersection with Highway 291 throughout Thursday evening and the lanes were still closed as midnight approached. All lanes have since reopened.
