WILDWOOD, Mo. – A plane crash killed two people in the Chesterfield Valley near St. Louis early on Saturday morning. KTVI reports that the victims are 41-year-old Shiv Patel and his seven-year-old daughter, Sonia Patel. They are both from Chesterfield, Mo.

The National Transportation Safety Board has begun an investigation after police said the single-engine Cirrus SR-22 carrying the Patel’s crashed into a tree line shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday.

A nearby farmer, Joe Duever, was doing farm work said he witnessed the plane go down.

“There was no rumble, there was just a ‘Boom!’ like 200 pounds of TNT and then it was over,” Duever said.

The plane’s flight plan said the plane was headed for a stop in Texas before landing at a final destination in Arizona. Police said that there was thick fog in the area, which may have played a factor.
