KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thousands of computers could be at risk of not being able to get online on Monday thanks to some malicious computer code.
According to the FBI, the mal-ware – known as “D-N-S Challenger” – is similar to a virus, and was created by a group of hackers intending to use it for fraud.
Authorities say that they have caught the individuals responsible, but they warn all PC owners to check for the mal-ware, which will prevent PC users from connecting to the Internet on July 9.
