KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Firefighters are trying to figure out what caused a fire at a Kansas City church. The church is located at 12th & Belmont on Kansas City’s east side.
The pastor of the church says a birthday party was being held when people inside started smelling smoke. When he went to the area where the fire was located, he was overwhelmed by flames.
“It was scary because a lot of kids were inside,” said Pastor Artura Aguilera. “We tried to make sure everyone was alright.”
Everyone made it out of the church safely. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire investigators as well as KCPD will handle the investigation to determine if the ATF needs to get involved.
