KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fire crews responded to reports of heavy smoke at a KCMO church early Monday morning.
According to battalion chief, fire crews responded to the fire at 33rd and Cypress, Kingdom Word Ministries.
The battalion chief said that fire crews were dispatched to the scene after someone noticed smoke pouring out of the building and called 911 just before 4 a.m.
The fire began in the basement and traveled to the first floor of the church according to the battalion chief.
Fire investigators said the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined. The estimated damage to the structure was $160,000 and $20,000 of content was lost in the fire.
No one was inside when the fire broke out and no injuries have been reported, according to the battalion chief.
