KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ford Motor Company and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum want your help recognizing local heroes.

The two have partnered with each other to recognize Kansas City’s Unsung Heroes of the African-American community.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum President Bob Kendrick said the event is a celebration of ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things to help others and make a positive impact on our community. As a community leader, Kendrick is encouraging community members to take time to nominate someone for this prestigious honor.

Winners will be recognized in a very special ceremony on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Negro League Baseball Museum and Gem Theater.

DETAILS:

A minimum of three honorees from each of the following categories will be honored:

Community – An individual whose deeds have benefited the lives of others in their community.

Education – An individual who works or volunteers in educational setting for the benefit of others, including teachers, students, parents of students, and the public.

Military – An individual demonstrating dedication and commitment to our country through past or present military service.

Youth – Young people (ages 17 and under) who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to their school, neighborhood or community.

Organization – A non-profit organization whose work positively impacts many lives in the community it serves.

To enter: Submit the name and address, and telephone number of both your nominee and yourself as the nominator. Please indicate which category (community, education, military, youth or organization) for which you are submitting a nomination. Submissions require you to write a brief (500 words or less) compelling summary describing what distinguishes your nominee as an individual and/or organization including information that highlights how the nominee’s actions benefit the lives of others. Recipients must be present at the program March 19, (Military personnel on active deployment may appoint a representative).
