Chicago, IL — Four people are dead and one critically injured after the car they were riding in crashed into a concrete wall at a high rate of speed.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. on a service road behind a shopping center near the 2600 block of N. Narragansett on the city’s Northwest Side.

All five had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Chicago Fire Department.

Three males and a female were dead on impact and another female was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition.

All are said to be in their early 20’s with one possibly a teenager, Chicago police said.

Police said at the scene the car came close to hitting about 100 propane tanks which could have blown up the entire building.

Police are reviewing surveillance video to see if drag racing occurred because it has been known to happen in the area.

The Chicago Police Major Accident Unit continues to investigate.
