KANSAS CITY, Mo. – As the flames grew in Tuesday’s fire at JJ’s,there was overwhelming concern for those who may have been inside when the explosion happened. Now that the fire’s gone, it’s clear the fire was lethal.
“She was part of this family, this restaurant, everybody that worked here was part of this family and this is a devastating situation,” said Jimmy Frantze, owner of JJ’s.
Many believe the person taken in this tragedy was Megan Cramer, a server at JJ’s. Megan’s family writes in a statement that she went to UMKC for her undergraduate degree and law school. Megan’s family says she helped found the first Lesbian and Gay Student Group at UMKC.
Her friend Mike Viglione says she just wanted to make everyone happy.
“She kinda told me about her philosophy of life, like giving people happy moments,” Viglione said.
Viglione worked with Megan at the Melting Pot, where he says she worked for many years before going to work at JJ’s in the last several months. He says Megan was the motherly-type, very soothing and humble.
“She was very encouraging to me,” he said.
The kind of person who made friends wherever she went and a lasting impression.
“She was just a wonderful person, and that she affected us all in a great way, and her crater, her footprint on life is remarkable,” Viglione said.
