KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As a family mourns the loss of a 13-yer-old loved one, some of his friends stepped in to help wash away some of their burdens. Friends of Ezkial Crapo held a car wash Sunday near I-49 and Blue Ridge Boulevard to raise money for his funeral expenses.
The teenager was struck by a truck and killed while crossing Interstate 35 near 75th Street on June 23.
Daniel and Jessica Crapo said their son and two friends crossed the busy highway to save time. They said it was a mistake for which their son paid the ultimate price.
Now they hope their son’s death will serve as a safely lession for others.
Jessica said she’s thankful for the car wash. All of the proceeds from the car wash were to help cover her son’s $5,000 funeral expenses.
