KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A contractor struck a gas line Tuesday afternoon near 12th and Merriam Lane in Kansas City, Kan., forcing those around it to evacuate while authorities evaluated the level of danger.
The Kansas City, Kan. Fire Department said the line was four inches in diameter. Those within 150 feet in each direction were asked to evacuate shortly after 2:00 p.m.. The site is near the Boulevard Drive-In Theater.
