KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Soaring gas prices have everyone holding on to their wallets, but there are some who don’t care how much gas costs – because their busy stealing it right out of your car, puncturing gas tanks and leaving behind hefty repair bills.
“The main thing they’re targeting is cars that are easier to get to with the gas tanks,” said Michelle Koos, Overland Park Police Dept.
That means the very popular SUVs that many families rely on.
“It was a stunner to me because we live in a well-lit neighborhood with lots of traffic,” Brind Bennett, one of several victims, said.
