NEW YORK — A gospel singer is suing McDonalds, claiming she swallowed a piece of glass while eating a chicken sandwich back in 2010 that has affected her vocal cords.
As a result, she claims her singing voice has been destroyed.
Jacqueline Simpson, a clerk with the New York Attorney General’s office, said when her voice changed, that’s when she decided to file a lawsuit against the fast food chain.
Simpson told Business Insider that the change in her voice was almost immediate. The deepening of her voice was so severe she’s often mistaken as a man when she talks on the telephone.
“Now when I sing, I have a hoarse, rattly voice. I still sing alto, but I can’t sing soprano like I used to,” Simpson told The New York Post. “I have to make a lot of calls for work, and I have to tell people that I’m not a man. Before, that never happened.”
McDonalds has not responded to the lawsuit.
