KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A fast-moving brush fire had some homeowners in Kansas City, Kan. on alert on Sunday. Firefighters were called to the area of 47th Terr. & Chester around 1:30 p.m.
People who live nearby stood in their backyards hoping the fire wouldn’t spread to their property. The flames almost caught one neighbors fence on fire. He used his hose until fire crews arrived to contain the fire.
“All of the really tall stuff that can’t be mowed was burning so the wind really fueled this and it went very, very fast,” said neighbor Connie Coll.
Coll says she’s glad the fire department called in extra support to battle the blaze because she can’t imagine losing everything she owns. It took fire crews about an hour to get the fire out because of high winds.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been released.
