OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The controversy over a sculpture of a half-naked woman at the Overland Park Arboretum doesn’t look like it’s going away any time soon, as a group says that they now want to get the courts involved.
The American Family Association says that they will release a grand jury petition on Tuesday afternoon over the bronze sculpture by artist Yu Chang called “Accept or Reject.” The group wants the courts to weigh in with their opinion over whether or not the sculpture violates Kansas obscenity laws.

The group claims that the problem isn’t that the woman depicted in the sculpture is nude, but rather that the focal point of the piece is her breasts – the sculpture depicts her taking a picture of herself, which in a statement they say is suggestive of sexting.
The group, which says that they have collected over 2,700 signatures on their grand jury petition, claims that the alleged “obscene” sculpture isn’t suitable for a popular place for young children.
