KANSAS CITY, Mo. — According to government statistics, sex trafficking generates billions of dollars in profits each year across the U.S. – second only to the drug trade as the fastest-growing criminal activity in the nation. Here in the metro, that means that hundreds of women and girls are sold for sex every day – sometimes many times a day.

But there are groups here in the metro working to stop sex trafficking, and help the victims of the sex trade to get their lives back.

FOX 4’s Carey Wickersham is Working for You with the report.
