LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. – An investigation is underway after a family of five died in a crash early Sunday morning.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Lori, 27, and John Stephens, 30, and Lori’s three children, ages four, five, and seven, were killed when their vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head-on. All five family members were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Mason Colley, 75, was driving the other vehicle which was struck. He was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators are still working to determine why the Stephens’ vehicle crossed the center line. According to the police report neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
