KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A high school cheerleader was thrown into jail because of a lack of auto insurance.

“I was appalled at everything and scared, terrified, actually because I didn’t think I should’ve been arrested for not having car insurance,” said 17-year-old Ehmani Griffin, a senior at Staley High School in the North Kansas City School District.

Tuesday the high school senior and popular cheerleader told FOX 4’s Robert Townsend about how she ended up in jail because she didn’t have insurance and failed to get her car registered with the state.

The girl’s furious mother also expressed her outrage.  Watch the story now in the video player above and let us know what you think.
