KANSAS CITY, Mo. — NASCAR fans around the country are revving their engines and gearing up to descend on Kansas City this weekend. The Kansas Speedway has a full schedule of big events, including the Sprint Cup Series’ Hollywood Casino 400 on Sunday, Oct. 16.
Race fans here in KC were excited to see the official pace car rolling through the streets of Kansas City.

Ryan Hogue, Senior Director of Marketing and Sales for the Kansas Speedway, along with VisitKC, gave out tickets to the race weekend. Hogue said given the stakes as drivers battle through the Sprint Cup postseason, he expects Sunday’s race to be a real fight to the finish.
“The intensity and the drama will be high as the drivers come in trying to advance in the round of 12 to the round of 8.”
The speedway will host events Oct. 14 – 16, with the Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 300 on Saturday, and the Sprint Cup Hollywood Casino 400 on Sunday, so Hogue said he expects huge crowds all weekend long.
“The grandstands hold 65,000, and we’re going to have a lot on the infield with the campers, so should have a very nice crowd out there all weekend,” Hogue said.
And fans can look forward to see some of their favorite speed-loving local boys.
“Carl Edwards is in the chase. Jamie McMurray will be here. Clint Bowyer of course will be here as well. So we’ve got a lot of local guys.”
