KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There were many smiles Friday morning at Operation Breakthrough, 31st & Troost, when a group of attorneys served up breakfast and gave out school supplies to kids and their families.

Operation Breakthrough is a daycare that serves poverty-level families in the city.

Lawyers Encouraging Academic Performance (LEAP) has raised more than $1 million for Operation Breakthrough children since 1995.

LEAP provided book bags, school supplies and breakfast by Chris Cakes, the famous pancake flippers. More than 400 children were expected to attend the back-to-school breakfast.
