BRANSON, Mo. — The tourist town of Branson, Mo.,  is cleaning up after a tornado ripped through the southern Missouri town. The twister, which touched down just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday heavily damaged a number of famous theaters along Missouri Highway 76. Two hotels — The Blue Bayou Inn and the Hilton — suffered serious damage from the storm.

Taney County Emergency Manager Chris Berndt said at least 41 people were injured in the Branson area. Berndt said some mobile homes in the county were completely destroyed and there were reports of numerous large trees and power lines downed by the storm.

The city of Branson is currently accepting volunteers to help with clean-up efforts. Job assignments have yet to be determined, but those interested, should visit VolunteerBranson.org.
