GASCONADE COUNTY, Mo. — Police are investigating after human remains were discovered in central Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol released a statement Friday saying a human bone fragment was discovered near the Missouri River outside of Hermann, Mo., in Gasconade County, Mo.
Sgt. Kevin Hunter with the Missouri State Highway Patrol said investigators are doing an analysis on the fragment to determine more information.
“You can us your imagination and think of how a bone fragment can end up somewhere,” he said. “Could be anything from a grave from 100 years ago.”
Hunter said the investigation is ongoing. The Division of Drug and Crime Control, along with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
