OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Two people are in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle trying to avoid debris.

Early Saturday morning a driver, who had gotten into a single car accident, ended up in the median on eastbound I-435 near Quivira. Another driver then stopped at the scene to assist the drive who had gotten into the accident.

Both the driver and good Samaritan were both standing outside of their vehicles when a third driver in a van, approached the scene and attempted to swerve out of the way of the first vehicle’s crash debris. The van struck both the driver and good Samaritan.

The two victims were transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and as of Saturday were both listed in critical condition.
