INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Police are looking for a man they say stole a car from Mark’s Pre-Owned Cars in the 9300 block of US Highway 40 on Tuesday afternoon. Police say the man stole the car from the lot, and then took off down Highway 40, only to crash into another car a few minutes later.
After the crash, police said the suspect ran off.
The victim, whose car the suspect hit, Stephen Dunson Jr. is recovering at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. The victim’s father, Stephen Dunson Sr., told FOX 4 on Tuesday that his son is bruised up, sore and has high blood pressure.
“Often times it is the innocent person who becomes a victim of someone else’s actions,” Dunson said.
Dunson said his son’s car is a total loss and it won’t be easy for him to get by without it.
“Taking his children to school and picking them up every day, being a contractor and having to go from job to job and meetings, you know that’s going to be tough,” he said.
If you know anything that can aid in the investigation call the Independence Police Department at (816) 325-7330.
