KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The woman convicted of locking her daughter “LP” in a closet appeared in court on Friday for sentencing. Judge James Youngs handed down a 34-year sentence for child abuse, endangerment and assault, all counts that a jury returned guilty verdicts for on November 24.
Prince will serve 20 years for first-degree assault, seven years for child abuse and seven years for endangerment. She’ll serve the terms consecutively in state prison.
Investigators found Prince’s daughter, who is known as LP, in 2012 living in a closet and only weighing 32 pounds. LP was only 10 years old at the time and weighed only half the amount a child at her age should weigh.
Prince has two other daughters who were also taken into protective custody, but they were reportedly in better condition.
