JOPLIN, Mo. — As they mark the second anniversary of a deadly, monstrous twister on May 22, 2013, those who survived an EF-5 tornado that obliterated parts of Joplin, Mo., are offering their thoughts and prayers to the people hit hard by Monday’s tornado in Oklahoma.

“I really don’t want people to go through the stuff I have because it’s been chaos, ” says 16- year-old Lage Grisby.

For Grigsby and a lot of tornado survivors in the small Missouri town, the unbelievable pain, the incredible damage they experienced that fateful day all resemble the enormous sadness and mass destruction tornado victims in Moore, Okla., are dealing with right now.

“God really saved my life, ” says Lage Grisgsy.

“He really doesn’t remember a lot, which is a blessing, ” says Jessica Grigsby about her son.

On May 22, 2011, Lage, sitting in a truck at a Home Depot with his grandmother and a cousin, when suddenly the relentless twister sucked him out of the vehicle and tossed him around.

The Carterville teenager suffered a severe head injury.

Paramedics feared Lage would die.

Doctors later removed parts of his brain.

The lucky, Joplin survivor, who knows he defied death, has an encouraging message of hope for the people hit hard by the deadly tornado in Oklahoma.

“You have to keep living you know until your days are over and try to remain positive.  Also, hold on to your faith because God is with you, ” says Lage.
