KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City group whose mission is to attract people in the millennial age range to work in and stay in Kansas City hosted the first Fiery Stick event Friday on the north lawn of the National World War I Museum.

KC Live partnered with Sporting Kansas City, Cerner, and other corporations to host the “Pop Up Country Club.” Young people played bocce, life-sized beer pong, and enjoyed live music.

160 golfers paid to participate in the Fiery Stick Open, a hole-in-one competition. If anyone shot a hole-in-one, the organization would donate $1 million to the charity of the player’s choice.

“We want to encourage people that go away to college to come back and consider this their home, or people that go to schools locally or regionally, to want to stay in the area and find their job and find their place in Kansas City,” said the Executive Vice President of Operations Sporting Kansas City, Chris Wyche.

Sumeru Chatterjee, with Live KC, said, “Kansas City is a great place to live, to work, and to play. Kansas City is just really driven to make it the coolest possible city in America, and that’s Live KC’s goal, and we hope that will be true in the next couple of years.”
