KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Next Wednesday through Friday, June 4 through June 6, Kansas City will be playing host to a group of people who will help decide where the 2016 Republican National Convention will be held. Kansas City is in the running to host the convention along with Cleveland, Dallas, and Denver.
While the site selection delegation is in town next week, they’ll be looking at things like security, hospitality, and transportation options. They’ll also be holding a series of meetings to find out what Kansas City metro area has to offer for the 2016 Convention. Downtown business owners are looking forward to having Kansas City on the national stage.
“I love this city, that’s why I moved here, and just to see that you know it’s being recognized and something great is heartwarming,” said Joe Dakin from the Garment District in Power and Light.
It’s not just the city of Kansas City, Mo. preparing for the convention. Cities throughout the metro have pitched in. Overland Park reps say their city will provide nearly a third of the hotel rooms for the convention if Kansas City is chosen. The exact plans for next week’s visit haven’t been set in stone yet.
