KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For car lovers there was no better place to be than Kansas City on Sunday. More than 200 vintage and classic cars, hot rods and others from across the country could be seen at the Kansas City Art Institute.
Sunday marked the 8th annual Art of the Car Concours. On display were cars worth tens of thousands to millions of dollars. It’s a show that raises money for student scholarships at the Kansas City Art Institute.
Wayne Blackmon drove in his 1946 Ford Standard Half-Ton Pickup Truck from Grand Lakes, Oklahoma.
“We came here because this is one of the most amazing concours in America,” he said.
Blackmon said the show draws some of the most passionate car enthusiasts in the world.
“These vehicles that you see today are owned by people like you and me who have a fondness for the American automobile,” he said.
Organizers estimate to have raised more than $100,000 for scholarships at Sunday’s car show.
