NORMAN, Ok. — He hasn’t been much of an offensive threat for most the season, but Kansas junior guard Travis Releford sure has come up big during the last two games for the Kansas Jayhawks. Releford scored a career high 28 points on Saturday afternoon, and helped Kansas (12-3, 2-0) remain unbeaten in Big 12 play with a 72-61 win over Oklahoma in Norman.
The Sooners held their own in the first half, leading the contest 34-33 at the intermission. But Kansas started the second half with a 23-6 run, and was never really threatened in the game’s final 20 minutes. Releford hit 9 of 13 field goal attempts, adding 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and no turnovers.
Junior forward Thomas Robinson had 18 points for the Jayhawks, who have now won five straight in Norman against the Sooners. Oklahoma (10-4, 0-2) was led by Steven Pledger who had 14 points.
