KANSAS CITY, Mo. — People in the metro are planning to come together and march to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s 1963 March on Washington. On Wednesday starting at 4 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church off 39th Street, people will gather to honor MLK. Following that, the crowd will march from the church to Spirit of Freedom Fountain at 4700 Cleveland Avenue.
The church’s pastor said now more than ever, people need to come together and be united.
“If the world ever needed a people to rise up and carry on the baton of Dr. King 50 years ago, then the time is right now,” Rev. Dr. Vernon Howard Jr. said.
The event is expected to go until 9 p.m., the exact address of the church is 3620 E. 39th Street Kansas City, Mo. 64130.
