KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Brookside girl is using her favorite stuffed animal to inspire others to give to the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Four-year-old Katherine Schell cried when she heard some of the stuffed animals previously owned by East Coast residents were now gone forever. She imagined losing her favorite stuffed animal, Daisy, and told her mother she wanted to do something to help. Her parents thought about it and decided to start Project Daisy.
Brian and Katherine Schell went to local businesses and asked if they could establish drop off locations. And there has been a tremendous show of support. Over 1,800 stuffed animals were donated at drop-off locations throughout the metro.
The toy drive to help Hurricane Sandy victims ended Friday, November 9. Since then, Katherine and her parents flew to Staten Island and hand delivered all the toys they collected, which you can see via the pictures in the gallery above.
