KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Water Garden Tour returns this weekend, July 7th and 8th. Fifty-nine water garden sites will be open to the public. The gardens, some with multiple ponds, range in size from a few hundred gallons to several thousand gallons, and are teeming with exotic Koi, shubunkins, fancy goldfish, water plants and one with model trains. The landscaped gardens include private homes throughout the Greater Kansas City area and public facilities like Operation Wildlife, the KC Zoo and Prairie Oak Nature Center.

The tour is presented by the Greater Kansas City Water Garden Society and proceeds from go to the construction of water gardens as educational projects for non-profit facilities like the Niles Home for Children, Kemper Outdoor Education Center and the Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary. Each site will be staffed with experts to answer questions about the various elements of that particular water garden.
The tour is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Tickets are $10 each for individuals 14 and older and are available in advance at Hen House and Westlake Hardware stores.
