KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri church burned overnight Sunday.
Clearwater Mission Church at 8th and Woodland Avenue is still standing, but is badly damaged on the inside. Not everything was lost. An old bible survived the fire and was found untouched in the rubble.
“This bible was on top of the table, unharmed,” said Pastor Loreen Gaddy.
She said it’s a sign from God.
“In all the devastation, things damaged, water damage and everything the word of God was not damaged by any of that, the fire or nothing,” said Gaddy.
Instead of in the pews Sunday morning church members were outside boarding up windows and doors.
“When I woke up and heard the church had caught fire I quickly got up and we came down,” said church member Timothy Harrington.
Harrington said the congregation will try and rebuild.
“We know god is going to bring us through this and help us,” he said.
Pastor Gaddy said they won’t stop leaning on their faith.
“When I got that call I felt bad like most people would feel bad, but you know what thing I quickly recover through the prayers of the saints, I quickly recover and the word of god,” she said.
Still no word on what caused the fire.
